Detention Center Overview
The Acoma Detention Center is not only a 24-7 jail/detention, but a healing center as well. The Acoma Detention Center at max can hold up to 48 inmates in three different sections (pods). The detention center houses both male and female inmates. Inmates at the detention center work to make themselves better, by helping restore cultural structures within the community. Inmates also learn work ethics and skills to prepare for their release and learn healthier ways to live.

The detention center employs five (5) detention officers and works closely with Acoma Tribal Courts, Acoma Police Department, Acoma Behavioral Health Services, and Acoma Fire Department to help inmates physically and mentally cope with various stresses and problems with alcohol and/or drug abuse.
